Description

This shrubby perennial will grow 1'-3' tall and 1'-2.5' wide. It has gray green, aromatic, wrinkled leaves that are white and hairy underneath and clusters of bluish purple, pink or white (depending on cultivar) flowers that bloom in late spring and summer. Sage tolerates full sun but prefers afternoon shade in hot areas. It needs well draining, dry soil. Leaves are considered for medicinal and culinary uses. Butterflies love this plant.

Water Saving Tip:

Replace turf with groundcovers, trees, and shrubs. If you have areas where no one uses the grass, patches that do not grow well, or a turf area too small to water without runoff, consider replacing the turf with water-efficient landscaping.
