Wheeler Canyon Ceanothus
Description
Dense mounding, evergreen shrub 4-6 ft tall by 4-8 ft wide with dark green, 1-1.5 inch long leaves. Clusters of dark blue flowers open inspiring from prominent burgundy-colored floral bracts. Although easily confused with ‘Concha’ when young, the latter attains much greater height with age. Propagated from cuttings by Horticulturist Dara Emery from a plant found roadside in Wheeler Gorge, Ventura County. -Santa Barbara Botanic Garden
